These goggles provide comprehensive eye protection by blocking out all wavelengths of light, making them particularly beneficial for individuals with photosensitivity.
Designed for users who wish to protect their eyes while still allowing beneficial filtered red light to pass through, these safety glasses offer a balanced approach to eye protection during light therapy. They also offer a broader area of coverage as compared to goggles.
Commercial-grade polycarbonate frame and certified according to EN207:2009 /AC: 2017/ CE standards
Crafted for use during Laser; Red Light Therapy (RLT), and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) procedures, these steel goggles offer the most robust protection. Designed to block all wavelengths from 190nm to 3,000nm with a Visual Light Transfer (VLT) ~0%. Constructed from durable stainless steel with a non-reflective surface for utmost safety. Very popular purchase from Laser Clinics worldwide.

Why Use LED Safety Glasses?
LED and Laser light can strain the eyes; cause discomfort and in some cases cause damage.
With Red and Near-Infrared in particular, users should be made aware that high intensities of light can cause photothermal (heat) injuries to various parts of the eye (Figure 1).
The eyes are far more sensitive than skin. With many users wanting the highest irradiance levels they can get, they could be inadvertently putting themselves at greater risk when doing so if not properly protected.
The beam angle of the Led Light lens is a factor in conjunction with the irradiance intensity and one’s distance from the light and the duration of exposure (Figure 2)
In the study below it confirmed that the eye can only tolerate 80mW/cm2 of NIR LED for less than 30 seconds. Any time greater than that would risk thermal damages occurring within the eye.
Eye Safety Related to Near Infrared Radiation Exposure
The International Commission of Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) takes for granted that infrared radiation poses a risk to the human eye under certain conditions. To mitigate these risks, the ICNIRP recommends limiting IR exposure (770 nm-3 µm) to 10 mW/cm² for lengthy exposures (>1000 seconds) and to 1.8 t^(-3/4) W/cm² for shorter exposure durations.

Thermal Effects
The primary mechanism of IR-induced eye damage is through thermal effects (Figure 3). The IR radiation absorbed by the anterior segment of the eye (cornea, aqueous humor, and lens Figure 1) can produce clouding when exposure thresholds are exceeded.
It’s important to note that while these effects have been observed in various studies, the exact long-term impact can vary based on factors such as intensity, duration, and frequency of exposure. Proper eye protection is crucial when in environments with significant IR exposure.
So it is accepted that excessive exposure to near-infrared (NIR) light can cause eye damage, potentially leading to cataracts, burns on the retina, and other issues, especially with high-intensity or prolonged exposure
Using the correct safety glasses blocks harmful wavelengths while allowing treatment benefits to be received without risk.

3. Are the steel red light therapy Goggles comfortable?
Whilst being heavier than the silicone goggles and for some not as comfortable, the Steel Eye Protection Patient Goggles priority is to offer the highest protection available with zero light transmittance.
They offer adjustable braided elastic straps, offering both safety and comfort during treatments. Clinicians often choose to simply place a cotton pad between the eye and the goggles for extra comfort.
