General Questions
What’s The Difference Between Red & NIR Light Therapy?
First up – they operate at different wavelengths in the spectrum. Leredd Red light therapy products use 630; 650 and 660-nanometer standard low-frequency wavelengths that are optimised to treat at skin-level. Different products utilise different wavelengths. Issues such as acne; eczema; psoriasis; thyroid problems, skin cancers and wound healing care, cold sores and more. Whereas, near-infrared light uses 810;850; 940 and 1070-nanometer wavelengths which penetrate deeper through the skin and into the muscles; tendons; ligaments and bones improving circulation and reducing inflammation. Again different products use different wavelengths.
Both red and near-infrared light wavelengths are guaranteed to be painless, completely safe to use ; emit zero UV light; and are selected to treat numerous health issues that you may have. To know more about different types of light therapy treatments, you can check our informative blogs here.
Both wavelengths treat human cells and the mitochondria and considering we all have in excess of 30 Trillion cells within us, that’s a massive amount of treatment taking place within your body.
Am I required to use eye protection?
When using just the Red 660nm setting, eye protection is not mandatory unless you are on photosensitising medications, although we do not suggest staring directly at the LEDs when in use, as it may be uncomfortable especially if you are not used to bright lights. We suggest shutting your eyes before and gradually opening them during use of your device. If your eyes feel sensitive please use eye protective wear.
If your eyes are particularly susceptible to bright light or if you have photosensitivity and epileptic history, we suggest that you contact your treating medical health professional for clearance prior to using your Leredd system and also use eye protective wear to further mitigate any potential issue.
When using the Near Infra-Red (NIR) setting you should always wear properly rated eye protective safety glasses, whether it is in combination with Red or fully on it’s own. This is more cautionary until conclusive scientific studies come to surface as we prefer to err on the side of caution in this regard for the time being.
Nonetheless studies have been done which have shown positive results with Red and NIR lights . One such recent study published in November 2021( Link to research study – eye exposure to red light )highlighted positive results and enhanced mitochondrial function using Red light on the eyes for 3 minutes in the morning between 8-9am. In it they used 670nm Red light at 40mW/cm^2 for 3 minutes per treatment to produce positive results!
Even 830nm Near-Infrared has been used to slow vision loss in rodents.
And Red Light can even mitigate and ameliorate retinal damage from blue light!
Bright light exposure in the morning can help reset and maintain a healthy circadian rhythm too!
So the question must be asked if Red wavelengths of light have been reported as beneficial to the eyes, then why aren’t we all exposing ourselves more to them?
How Long Should I Use Leredd Each Day?
“Less Is More”, you’ve heard the saying before and in a way this is true for light therapy. As Leredd Devices have industry crushing power we recommend cutting treatments to no longer than 20 minutes per session. Your cells can only absorb so much light per day and if you go over the recommended treatment time it won’t mean you will see better results and more benefits. There is what is termed a “Sweet Spot” and that is what you need to aim for. We recommend 2 sessions x 10-20min treatment sessions per day for the best overall results.
Do Leredd Devices come with a user manual?
All Leredd Products when shipped out, include a user manual for ease of use and setup, so you can enjoy your treatment sessions to the fullest. We can also send you an electronic version if requested after purchase.
Are Leredd devices tested, before being shipped out?

We stock all types.
Why do Near-infrared LEDs look like they’re not working?
The visual effect/Wavelength spectrum of near-infrared are not observable to the naked eye. The visible light spectrum is the segment of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can view. More simply, this range of wavelengths is called visible light. Typically, the human eye can detect wavelengths from 380 to 700 nanometers. NIR is outside the visible spectrum. As Leredd’s near-infrared operate at 850nm they are not visible, however don’t let that trick you as they are working overtime through the layers of your skin and deep into your body treating you to some amazing benefits.
Do LEDs make a difference?
Sure do! LEDs have come a long way especially on the medical side of things. This technology has succeeded becoming one of the most efficient, non-invasive approaches for treating various skin issues and other health ailments. Leredd’s red light therapy products are well-equipped with controllable wavelengths and the highest-quality medical-grade LED’s maximising overall wellness outcomes for our customers. We supply to many medical professions including Melanoma clinics and Physicians.
Do Leredd devices have high EMF levels and are light therapy EMF exposures a health hazard?
Certainly not. It would have been pointless producing such therapy and wellness products if they were counterproductive. It was a primary condition that our products were to be low to zero EMF output and that’s what we have delivered. This can not be said about many other suppliers of RLT products on the market. Our products have been fully tested for EMF output. Our products are fully certified after going through comprehensive testing to ensure you are fully protected.
Nonetheless, whether or not EMF can harm human health is a controversial issue. Scientific evidence does not demonstrate a causal link between typical exposures to EMF and adverse health effects. EMF’s are common in today’s environment and are emitted by products we use on an everyday basis such as mobile phones; microwave ovens; TV’s and general electrical products. When one takes a flight; EMF exposures occur. It is a part of daily living and no clear evidence that EMF affects biological processes to date. There is no evidence that EMF can change living cells or is genotoxic (harmful to DNA). Also there is no convincing evidence from animal studies either to support the claim that EMF increases the risk of cancer. This information is not opinion of Leredd or its staff or agents rather it is cited from the Victorian Government and department of Human Services as per their findings – www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/electromagnetic-fields-emf-and-health-issues#bhc-content
Knowing that Leredd products are EMF safe and tested to limit any exposure regardless of government assurances of safety re low exposures to EMF, should make you feel at ease and have you focussing on the benefits that quality light therapy offers.
Is it best for to cleanse skin before treatment for best results and outcomes ?
It really depends on what treatment outcome is being sort. In a general sense it is better to have nothing on the skin. Same as when you go to a skin or beauty clinic they will wipe your skin free to be sure there are no photo-blocking agents from moisturisers/sunscreens and make-ups. There are thousands of different chemicals used these days so it is safest to be treated with bare skin free of any agents. As LEREDD products do not emit any UV light which is damaging to the skin there is no need for sunscreens when being treated. The question is specific to best outcomes, so best practice is to remove any products that have been applied to the skin.
Pulse vs Constant/Static modes which is best ?
For most skin treatments and conditions the constant/static mode will provide best outcomes in a shorter treatment time as the irradiance is constant. Some people are not suited to pulsing and the treatment times need to be longer due to less irradiance being received by the skin in the same timeframe. Pulsing can be more beneficial when treating and resetting brain wavelength patterns for certain individuals and also for nerve regeneration.
Is an empty stomach better for abdominal treatments ?
Abdominal treatments can treat both muscle tissue; inflammation; circulation and microbiome and for best outcomes it would be good practice to wait 30-45mins after eating to treat this area. Light therapy assists treating you at a cellular level improving all systems to be more efficient and with improved circulation your metabolism will increase as a bi-product of the process and combined with proper sleep; good diet and healthy lifestyle and exercise, you will be in good stead to take on each day at an improved rate.
Is bare skin better than light clothing re penetration and cells receiving maximum irradiance ?
Fabrics differ in density and whilst the light wavelengths will penetrate the light fabrics any barrier will have some filtering process. As everyone seeks best outcomes, removal of clothing is suggested and recommended.
